4850 problem and bios question

My dads new ip43/4850 is very unreliable, boots 1 in 10 times. Its ok once it has started just starting is the issue. Its got a oem vista installed, if i flash the bios will it still activate? Any ideas on the dodgy boot, 4850 driver is to blame according to vista, tried disk, 8.10, 8.11 , 8.12, drivers

So if you uninstall the drivers for the 4850 and just let windows run it do you still get the boot problems? (I know your gfx/resolution will be poor but it will narrow down if this is the problem)

Yeah with no driver or in safe mode it boots everytime.

Yeah if you havent already flash the BIOS on the m/b it may correct what seems to be a compatibility issue

Will the bios flash cause problems/stop windows activating with it being an oem version? or will MS understand its still installed on the original PC.

No altering the BIOS wont affect the windows, or even count as one of the 2 upgrades allowed on an OEM version, dont worry
