4850 running better than a 5770?

Hey, i've just swopped my ATI 4850 512MB for an Asus 5770 1GB. I ran a quick before and after 3DMARK05 ;

4850 = 17158
5770 = 16957

Any idea's what this could be?

Just a Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU E6750 @ 2.66GHz .... but surely it should beat it hands down?

Also, trying a game and it looks the same.

Checked your calendar lately? 3D Mark 05 is 5 years old...

Overclock your CPU a bit at least, even if it's to see if you're CPU limited.

Yeah you need to get that CPU over 3Ghz especially with it being a dual core.

A 5770 I would think will not be that much faster considering the specs ,same number of SP with a little more bandwidth but less fill rate.

Edit Anadtech's bench thinks the 5770 should be abit faster Link , try a game rather than 3d mark

3DMARK Score P7688

GPU Score - 9625
CPU Score - 4794

I went from a 4850 that went kaput to a 5770, while faster it wasn't exactly night and day. But try games instead of benchmarks.

Considering the 5770 is somewhere between 4850 and 4870 in terms of raw speed, it's not going to be miles faster, but it should be a bit better.

That's what I was thinking but its actually worse. Using 10.8 Cata drivers.

3DMark 06 is free.
Haven benchmark is free (run it with tessalation off)
If you have crysis, that has a good not very cpu dependant built in bench.
Furmark has one.
