How do you scale the screen in the CCC like you can so well in Nvidia Control Panel, as iv'e had a little look and there is one but its pants!(possible seperate software as a solution?)

Also how do u set seperate settings for games like you can in Nvidia Control Panel?

Thanks

I've been told that ATI drivers are so poor that they cannot even auto launch profiles.

You apparently have to create and save a profile for each game....then MANUALLY dig it out and run it every time you want to launch a game. Backward!

Not sure I believe it, it'd be a bit retarded to have to do the computer's work for it.

Digital panel (DVI) tab, click the GPU scaling box

Takes all of 10 seconds.

Yes, and it takes all of 1ns on the nvidia drivers.

I don't mind doing something manually, but not when I have over a grand's worth of computer sitting there who's job it is to do that sort of thing.

Only takes a few mins to convert your post into binary and tap a morse key to send it accross the net.....but you let the computer do that for you.

Surely it's just an oversight on ATI's part, and they'll fix it soon (though someone here mentioned something about it being a fundamental flaw that could not be fixed).

GPU scaling works perfect for me on the 4850/4870. Game on a HDTV and the ATI can scale the image perfectly whereas my old 8800GTX always had broken image scaling which Nvidia never bothered to fix.

I can use a low res image on my HDTV and the ATI scales it so that it is centered with black borders or can fill the screen either way it works.

Yeah, ever since the Cat 8.5 (maybe earlier) the ATi cards have proper scaling, so you can set it to either stretch screen, keep aspect ratio or do one-to-one pixel mapping at any resolution.

Beside the point, I have a computer because I don't want to do things manually. Otherwise I might as well dust off my typewriter. When the X-Fi Mode Switcher came out it was a huge relief; where previously I took 'all of 10 seconds' to switch the mode this was now done automatically when the game / app launched. Could not imagine going back. Likewise ATI should fix this; we're talking drivers that support enthusiast-level GPUs where people are guaranteed to tweak settings. Ok, so it's not the biggest issue ever, but it would be nice to have it fixed... if for no other reason then because I'm buying a 4870 in the next month or so ;)

The Profiles should be auto & i don't think people have pestered ATI enough about it.
But part of the reason for not moaning enough about it is because most games have enough in game settings that will bring a gfx card to its knees & many don't feel the need to push further using CCC to pass the in game max settings, still no excuse as that is not always the reason for profiles.

im getting lower fps in Team Fortress 2 than i did with my 8800gts 640mb which is pretty worrying, may do a fresh install and see if the issue persists. Although i did delete all the tf2 files.

Can you, by any chance, create shortcuts for profiles?

You could then create a .bat for each game which calls the profile AND the game.

Or you could just get off your lazy ass and write some VB scripts that will do it for you :P But I guess sticking with the green drivers will produce a much more reliable and user friendly experience lol.

I know what you mean, I hate manually running around shooting people and aliens. It can get quite messy, and is usually frowned upon by those annoying police people... :o

:D

Its all well and good that NV drivers take 1ns to deploy the profiles but if you cant even take 5seconds to do it on ATi it sure does say a lot about you...

I dont even use profiles but I'd have no problems with taking 5 seconds to do that since I dont play games all the time.

I mean if you cant do that its a wonder no one is moaning that they have to click on shortcuts to start up programs like web browsers and even games.

LOL, I'm so glad we agree :D

It wouldn't be an issue if I hadn't 'seen the light' and experienced automation, but the green team has it. Not the biggest issue in the world though as I game once a week, but it's damn convenient. I see what you're saying however, so we'll agree to disagree :)

It's a convenience, if anyones being lazy it's ATI in not implementing it.

I bet you don't get up and walk over to the TV to change the channel? sure does say a lot about you...
