Hi all i know recently there have been a lot of complaints about the idle temps of the 4870 X2, Idle temps of 85 is in my opinion isnt realy good.

My 4870X2 Core 1 idles at 85 C with fan speed on default. With 40% fan speed it idles at around 50 - 55 C and loads at about 80 so its no too bad.

Core 2 idles at about 45 C with default fan speed and with 40% about 36 C which is realy good, although there is a difference with the temps still since from what ive heard one core is running in 3D mode.

Is there ever going to be a fix for this? I know my GPU works well but theres still a problem here no matter how high the fan speeds are?

Would it possible to RMA to my 4870X2 because of this issue even though ATI says these temps are compleatly normal? :confused:

Yeah ive heard of those. Im not into betas though, going to wait for the drivers to come out fully. Hopefully that will be soon.

Anyways going get in touch with overlclockers tommorrow to see if this is realy normal for these cards or RMA if its allowed. Kind of 50-50 realy dont know if i should just wait for better drivers etc.

yes ive done that already, temps have improved but its still an issue if you know what i mean.

it reads 85 C on everest :)
