"4870x2 reviews thread"

sweet card. problem is the crysis benchmarks dont look that hot, infact look very bad.
hopefully when it hits retail we can get a mature diagnostic on that game ;)

I think Farcry 2 will run quite a bit better on both nvidia and ati gpu's tbh than crysis.

Btw, bit disappointed in some of the minimum framerates of the 4870x2 in 1-2 games i saw the 3870x2 just as good that way, but with the 4870x2 having much higher maximum rate which really isnt important.. oh well

so it uses 406watts to power it, so what type of power supply is needed to run these in crossfireX

wow...sweet looking card. Now who's going to be upgrading their 4870's...LOL!

How much are these going to come out at?

Well i was thinking of getting 2 of these in crossfireX, but when i looked at the power requirements i though seesh  my enermax 1000w isnt good enought!

I think as surge said that is total system load so each card will pull 300w your galaxy will be fine.

yeah I thought as much, I'm gunner wait a short while after release for the price to drop, then buy two, just hope EK can get a full cover block out soon after release.

512MB buffer to each GPU for 1GB total

I read this as its a 1GB card? i was thinking about a 4870 1GB as i game at very hi res. so this 4870x2 has the same amount of memory available?

it would be nice for the reviews to have the amount of video memory used in the games benchmarks

Hold on I thought they where saying the 4870X2 was going to be 10% faster than CF 4870's, its totally the same apart from Crysis where the CF4870's are a tad quicker! Oh well makes me more pleased with my purchase :D

Read it guys.
1GB of mem on each side of the card so that each GPU gets 1GB of it own mem.
So really you will only get 1GB mirrored worth when gaming.

EDIT: THE HC said 2GB total on board our samples have 1GB of GDDR5 accessible to each GPU (so 2GB total on the board.)?
