No way the X2 is going to be £275 though. Not a hope in hell, even a few weeks after release, unless the performance jump it brings is disappointing in comparison to the GTX280 or it's replacement.

If Ati stick to their promise of not releasing it over 550USD, it could well be that much where I plan to be in 3 weeks time.. I'll be picking up one or the other so I guess I'll just keep my eye on prices and real world reviews!

I have it on good authority that the X2 will be £260+vat, so ~£305 on launch.

Have to wait and see if that is true, but the person who has told me has been right about the other 4 series card pricing.

If it is true, that is a damn good price.

I don't doubt ATI - I doubt the retailers.

Let's hope the price does indeed fall to the £250 levels within a month or so.

At launch? no way, I'm expecting £350+

At £300 mark I'd be tempted to stretch to it and give my psu a hammering.

Don't quote me on it, but prices he gave me for the GTX 260/280 launch and 4850/4870 were all correct.

So I have no reason to doubt him. :)

Suppose we'll have to wait and see, but if it is ~£300-310 then it is very good value for money!

"The dual-GPU AMD Radeon HD 4870 X2 that is called to outperform leading NVIDIA cards for the first time in a few years, is to go on sale on August 12. Nevertheless, in some European countries (Austria, for example) these cards can be already ordered. At that, some stores claim to have Sapphire-branded products in stock.

The local product search engine Geizhals.at shows prices ranging from 402 to 457 EUR (620-710 USD). I can already tell that higher than the suiggested retail price. So .. that price will go down for sure, don't worry."
