Is this still worth getting at the moment ? If your after the best you can get.

I've been thinking long and hard about it, this is the card that I would most like currently, but its a lot of money and dont want to buy and find its out of date as soon as I get it due to a new revision or model coming out !

There's going to be a 295 released soon i believe which is 2 x 260s in SLI on one card, if your after a money no object top card, it might be worth checking this out, aswell as the X2

In terms of being out of date, the basic design of the X2 and 200 series is around 6 months old, so i doubt you will see another proper "new architecture" for a year or so, so those cards are likely to give you top level gaming for a good 2 years i would have thought

No one really knows the future, but both ATI and Nvidia want to see a money return on there investment in the current Gen card market and that means ringing as much out of the current teck as it does in getting a brand new beat up the opposition architecture out in the future, the old 8800 generation lasted 2 years, and it's still going strong in mid range 9800 series cards

As long as driver updates came comming for new game releases then the card should do you for a while. I keep getting the impression that when a new card is realeased that its 2000% better and all other cards stop working but thats just because of the hype. Peter is right, the 8800 series is still alive although renamed 9800 now and the HD4850 is at the same performance level. As for new generation cards, some say Sept - Dec 2009 for both companies
