buying a 4890 and want to fit an aftermarket cooler. Not overly bothered about overclocking, would be nice to do it but fast enough anyway for what i play :

bf2 and mods (specifically aix which needs a lot of power for some maps)
quakelive

thats pretty much it. Im more looking for something quiet!!

thanks :D

The Coolink GfxChilla doesn't get a lot of praise around here, but I'm using one and it's great - very quiet. It won't help get maximum overclocks, but it's damn near silent. Fairly small as well, compared to other coolers.

Please explain why that is the case? Unless every review on the internet is part of some sort of conspiracy the 4890 beats the 260, espcialy at higher resolutions.

Also the 4890 is only £20 more than the 260 atm.

i suppose its that you already have a GTX260, its not like you haven't got a decent card :P

i suppose people can say the same thing about me going form HD4870 512 (xfire) to HD4890 corssfire, but than again due to certin problems with one of the cards I might as well :|

Sorry thats old rig, i dont have anything any more all I have left is a TT120 that i put in the metal recycling bin as I lost the rheobus for it and Tuniq couldnt get me anywhere to buy a spare, and the antec 900 which is sitting in the corner!

People are fast to forget that games that actually get played a lot don't really need much over a 4850/4870.

I'd stick with what you have got until some games that actually need more power come along.

Cant see anything this year that needs more than a 4870 to max out apart from arma 2 but that chugs on even the highest of specs.
