Need to decide between these two cards i dont realy care for dx11 because this only has to last for a year tops but im on tight power with my dell xps 420 with a 375 psu. :( i like the 4890 because its faster uses less power than the 4870 but the 5770 uses les power than the 4890 but how much is it worth the performance decrese and the dodgy drives ?

I would say you will be straining that PSU heavily with a 4890, that's even if it works at all. The 5770 is close to the same gaming power, and should easily work with that PSU, unless you are buying a nice new supply i'd go with the 5770. As for drivers, many people aren't getting any problems, mine is fine with the 9.12 catalysts. Update your motherboards BIOS to the latest one, then it's pretty much luck of the draw unfortunately. Most people manage to sort out any problems with the 5xxx series, there seem to be just a few with mainly Asus motherboards who continue to have problems.

That Dell PSU can sustain 30A on the 12v rail I believe.

Wouldn't be surprised if it could run the hd 4890.

I've been getting some extra perfomance from a few games since 9.12, nothing major though tbh. The 5770 does beat the 4890 in a few games now, but it's still between 5-10% behind in a lot of games. The main advantage really is that it runs very cool, uses extremely low wattage, and has DX11 support.

Did you have to flash the bios of yours to activate all the shaders?

If you're not bothered about power requirements and heat and just want best performance for you money then a 4890 is a much much better choice then a 5770 :)

Thankfully Meaker I bought the card 3 days ago and all shaders were already enabled. It looks like Sapphire are shipping them out with the correct bios now :)
