4890 v 5850

Erm, not quite that much of a difference (cores-wise, you'd be thinking of the 5970). But yes, you will see a performance gain. Have a look at this link for example - it doesn't have the 4890 on but it's a little better than a 5770, which is featured:

Where on earth did you pull those figures from? It's not even twice the performace of a single 4890.

it's only getting a few fps over the 4890...it even loses in some games.~20% faster (DX11, less power and more features do make it a sexy card though)

Agreed with general consensus, it's about 25% faster than a 4890, but you get the benefits of lower temps, lower power use, dx11. I still think 2 4890's crossfired is one mean machine though!

However I will say that from a hardware sense it has twice the specs of the 4890, therefore only 20-45% gains from a 4890 to a 5850 show how we are in dire need of newer game engines!
