Sorry guys, I know there is a lot of information about this on the boards at the moment, and Search helped me find very similar discussions I wasn't able to find an answer that precisely answered my specific question, which is: -

Assuming money isn't a consideration - which of the following 2 configurations is likely to give the most powerful setup across the board?

2 x 4890s in crossfire -or-
1 x 5870

I'm not worried about Dx11, the reality of that is surely a long way off. I'm simply interested in shredding current gen games.
 
money no object? wait a few weeks and get a 5870x2.

At the risk of partly contradicting myself, if I can just refine my scenario and say that money is no object to the tune of around 300 sheets. :D

Wouldn't it be fair to assume that as the single-GPU model is sitting at around the £300 mark, that the X2's price point will even further away from sensibly priced?
