4g broadband setup?

Use a website like cellmapper.net to find out which networks are operating from that mast.
Choose the map to locate your area, and then select from UK operators to see where their masts are. It usually shows which direction the cells are pointing to as well.

That's the website I used to check it already, here's a screeny with notes. I also remember my friend telling me the was a huge uproar in the village when they first put it there (was in the papers). So its 100% a cell tower.

I bet that it was data limited due to it being peak time (I did tests from like 6 to 9pm)

could be the 4g signal strength display was faulty...

Hmm Im not sure the site is that accurate. I checked it there and theres a mast nearby thats not even registering on all the networks I pick.

If you don't have access to a proper signal tester then apps like Open Signal can be useful in identifying where your actual signal is coming from.

I can see the argument that standing under the cell tower probably isn't the greatest place for signal strength but the wavelength we're talking about will propagate out in a wide deep beam. So 30m away should be plenty of distance to max out the signal. I don't think there is any issue with the signal strength display. That's extraordinarily unlikely. Much more likely that Vodafone are renting their space to someone else and you're getting your signal from another tower.

Yeah that site definitely isnt accurate as I found another tower near to me thats not on their maps. If I use Open Signal on two different networks this app points to the correct towers.
