Does any such thing exist below £50?

I have seen the small routers which you connect a dongle to, but nothing standalone.

Thanks.

Thanks.

More expensive than I expected.

Will take a look at the TL-MR3420 and hope I pick a compatible modem.

For what it's worth the Netgear is a good product, does exactly what it says on the tin, and the LB1111 model support PoE so you can position it for the best signal without having to worry about getting power to it.

These 4G routers, I take it you have to pay a monthly line rental with the likes of O2 or can you buy a 2Gb SIM card and top it up when your data runs low?

The router does not dictate the data plan. If you find a PAYG data SIM it'll work in the router. How long the data lasts and how often you need to top it up are bound by the rules of the SIM you get. You can see here, some your data is only valid for 30 days and some 12 months: http://www.o2.co.uk/tablet-sims

I asked because a guy asked me about installing a camera at a remote building which has no internet but good 4G reception and wanted to remote view the camera at his house now and again.

Buying data up front would be easier than having to enter into a subscription of some sort.
