Just a friendly reminder to any GiffGaff'ers who may have forgot, but the 4G trial went live today at 10am. If you have a compatible simcard and phone and you have coverage then when you login to your account you should see a 4G goodybag available to purchase, once this is live you should be good to go!

Apologies if this was already covered in another thread but I couldn't see it?

My current goodybag doesnt run out for another 3 weeks so i've emailed an agent to see if they can bring it forward, if they can.

Bought mine this morning.

Well... after playing around, average 10mb, which is better than what I've been seeing with giffgaff's 3G. However, it also allowed me to notice I'm in a weak 4G area. Guess I'll pop into town later on where the mast is and see if the speed is better there. Will do one later tonight as well when it's past peak time, I notice I get better speeds during midnight.

I'll still probably move networks after this though, Tesco seems tempting.

All these speedtests is eating up the 1gb limit :p.

Aye, got to nip in to town later myself so will try it there. Yup 1GB is going to get chewed through by most in no time, I on average every month only use 400mb so not a problem for me, I would imagine once the trial period has ended they will offer some larger caps

Got my quickest speed so far this morning

Pretty good.

I'm disappointed in the coverage at my home though, the checker said I was in a strong 4G area, but I still get just as crappy signal as with 3G. Luckily I use my Wifi there anyway.

From what I've noticed, not all masts is activated to allow giffgaff members onto 4G. So there may be some delay in seeing a 4G signal in your area.

I'll have another play when I'm in a 4G area but last couple of times I got dismal speeds on GG 4G - not even 2Mbit down, 1Mbit up - which was an improvement on their 3G speeds........

EDIT: Actually just about in 4G coverage here - 925kbit down, 2300kbit up (yes 4G not 3G) - granted thats with a fairly poor signal but pretty much what I've seen of 4G on GG - "3G" lately has been in the region of 100kbit/s.
