So currently I get about 10-20Mbps, but easily 100 with 4G in my house. As my current contract has now ran out, I've thought about just getting a 4G router and SIM card.

Is this a daft idea? Is gaming really bad? Speed tests show similar pings.

Increased/unstable latency, jitter, bandwidth caps. For 'normal' internet use it'd be fine but I'm not sure I'd want to game over 4G.

Thought that would be the case, shame as 10x the speed is very attractive. But I'd rather have a consistent ping for gaming.

Is that 100Mbps on your phone? I've never seen anything the speeds I can get on my phone on a wireless data modem/router. It's usually about half, or even less.

Is that with EE?

Is what with EE? The test I done was on my phone, Vodafone.

I'm currently using a 4g router setup and trying to not go broadband subscription route. After some fiddling I'm getting about 30Mbps during peak times and 50Mbps early morning. This is with smarty. Now I'll try voxi who piggy back off Vodafone and see how that goes.

Had to use a 4g router for two weeks, was horrible for gaming, but worked 'ok' for web access. Pings went from my usual 12 to 45 ish

Cheers guys.

5G will hopefully be in the area by the end of the year, so I'll re-address it if that happens,

I had a 4G internet connection for several months, for most of the time it was ok, speeds of 20-60Mbps and the upload is good too. The latency isn't great for gaming and fluctuates. Then there were mast problems and I ended up with 3Mbps for a month and left.
