4GB DDR3 RAM- how long before it's too little?

How long until 4GB RAM becomes too little? Would it be maxed out by the end of next year perhaps?

I'm using 1GB of cheap unmatched DDR1 and I can still play CoD4 on max settings, crysis on medium with lag. I need more.

to be honest for average day to day operations and gaming it will be a while before 4gb is "too little" should def be good for another 1-2 years i would have thought.

also as a side note if youre upgrading your current machine i assume its DDR1? just double check the motherboard can take 4gb, and remember that with a 32bit operating system the max youre gonna get is around 3-3.5gb of that ram.
