4GB hardware reserved...

and there is more bad news!

installed motherboard.. booted to windows (havnt done fresh install yet..) and its saying 4gb total, 1.89gb usable! O M F G.. as if :mad:

so, because I purchased this other 4gb from a well know auction site months ago.. im going to have to contact corsair now about the warranty. which im not sure if I can because I bought it second hand. and don't have proof of purchase.

is this possible, as corsair does a lifetime warranty...

ohh god

corsair should go off the serial number on the memory,so it doesn't matter who's owned it,they are good with rma anyway

if you have some spare thermal paste remover or alcohol try cleaning the rams gold contacts,might be something simple as dirt/fingerprints

ye, i will give that a try, iv got some tim cleaner, just gonna reinstall windows and see if its a windows fault this time lol

and yes, iv put 2x2GB in, i had 4 to start with lol, not i only have 1 !

EDIT: was just looking at corsair RMA, and was looking at discontinued products. do corsair still even make corsair xms3 1333 anymore ?
i think they should give me some dominator ram

I think it's greybeard.

A new set of 8GB would be quite a lot - £50. Your new board can take 1600MHz no problem though.

Some bad luck there. Were you running the memory at spec? Odd to lose 3 DIMMs more or less at once

Ye I know, will see what corsair do about my xms3, then I only need to buy 4gb.

I would like 1600 though, but funds are tight at the moment, iv got the guitar project going and a baby in 7 months lol.

Just checking - you've got the two RAM modules in the right slots? Some boards can be fussy.

Ye, I checked the manual before I installed everything.just finished the win 7 install and it's still saying 4gb total, 1.89gb usable. So I deffo think one of the sticks is useless.

I'm going to message corsair man and see if he can help me.

Will let you know how it goes.

Edit: just searched his name but not finding it, guess its not that lol, will have to make a f.o.a post
