4Gb not seen on system

Heya peeps,

Have built a new build for work and consists of:

Asus P5W DH Deluxe mobo
4Gb Corsair Dominator 8500 (4x1Gb)
Windows XP Pro x64

Now am I missing something because I thought using 64bit OS meant you could utilise the whole 4Gb (or more) of memory. However, when the mobo POSTs it says I only have 3.12Gb of mem??? Any ideas on what I am doing wrong?
 
If its the POST displaying 3.12Gb then its got nothing to do with the OS. It must be a motherboad or BIOS issue.
 
thats what I thought as I have now built 6 identical spec machines and they all say 3.12Gb of DDR :(
 
Go into the bios - and see how much memory is being reported - is any being reported as "appropriated"?
