4GB of DDR3 not performing as well as 4GB DDR2?

I've just built a new system using a Gigabyte H55N-USB3 Mini-ITX mobo and 4GB of Corsair XMS 1333MHZ DDR3 I ran the Windows experience assessment and got 7's for everything except RAM which got 5.9. I don't know how important these scores are but I just found it strange as my other computer has 4GB of DDR2 and gets a 7.1. If any one can shed any light on this it would be much appreciated. I am a bit of a N00b so it's more than likely I've done something wrong.
 
You may want to double check it's in the right slots (if there is 4 ram slots) as you could be running in single channel mode, where as it should be in dual channel. Otherwise on the whole I would ignore the Windows scores, they don't mean much TBH.
 
Thanks for all your help, it only has 2 slots so there in the right ones. It's coping with everything I do so Ill just ignore the score.
 
it also depends on what your ddr2 ram was, for example if it was ddr2 1066 running at cl5 it will be just as quick if not quicker than ddr3 1333 running at cl8.
 
Among other things WEI has told me that a HD4770 is better than a GTX460, and that an SSD performs no better than a cheap HDD, both of which are a bit wrong :D

Just ignore it :)

It's just an indication of what microsoft and its game partners rate the titles for user experience, the titles will have a rating like a 3.0 or 4 or 5.5, the same as benchmark tools which don't always give a true indication of how a game will really perform in the real gaming world.

It's useless for that though, as the lowest score for most people will be the HDD at 5.9 which makes no difference to wether you can run a particular game or not.
 
Right you are, all of you. And when I say "worse than worthless", I mean that the WEI quite frequently causes inexperienced users to make bad purchasing decisions, spend time troubleshooting things that aren't broken, trying to change and tweak hardware to get a better score, etc etc. It's pure junk.
 
Yep like everyone said its worthless, but if you do want to improve it to show off heres some things you can check:

- Memory Timings
- Memory Speed
- Memory Voltage

The voltage at times down clocks the computer, or just makes it unstable. DDR3 memory is normally 1.5V but I have memory which is 1.65V which gave me blue sceen problems.

Just read it of the package or goto the manufactorers website and set it manually in the bios.

But again the windows rating is "worse than wortheless" lol
