4gb RAM and 90%+ Memory usage in games?

I disabled Memory remapping in the bios and re-inserted the RAM. No difference.

The cpu is a possibility, I might try to reseat it later. I did recently reseat it, and I'm not sure if I had this issue before that.

Anything else I can try?

edit; the motherboard is a Asus P7P55D-E, if that helps
 
Taken from a thread someone posted about 6GB only showing as 4GB.

After hours of troubleshooting I followed a tip to check the pins on the socket of the motherboard. I removed the CPU, placed the mobo under a bright light, and noticed one pin was slightly bent to the side. I straightened it with a tiny flat-head jewelers screwdriver and replaced the CPU. After the next reboot, the BIOS counted up all 6GB of RAM and Windows reported 6GB.

You want memory remapping enabled.


Also like advised, refresh the Windows Index Score.
 
Does a 64-bit Linux LiveCD manage to get access to all 4Gb? Just trying to figure out if it's a software or hardware thing.
 
Sorry for the multiple posts. Keep thinking of ideas when I click post. Would it be possible for you to try someone elses RAM in the system to eliminate if it is your RAM or not.
 
That memory usage is actually pretty low for WoW it can and does often use up to 1.6GB of RAM, though with your PC only seeing 2GB of RAM at the moment I can see why you're having problems.
 
I've found the problem. One of the memory modules on the motherboard doesn't work.

I tried booting with a single stick in one slot, no boot (black screen) Tried other stick in the same slot, no boot again.

Then tried both of the sticks in the other slot and it booted normally.

Looks like the motherboard needs to be RMA'd

edit; do I contact the seller (OcUK) or the manufacturer for RMA'ing? Never done it before.

Note it is possible OcUK would ask you to contact the manufacturer direct, but you should try them first as the retailer is usually responsible if it is within the first year I believe.

It is advisable to have a backup PC if you can, whether a laptop or cheap 2nd desktop etc. so you are never without a PC if you need/want one, when your main one is out of action :p

Why is it retarded of Google? When a Tab crashes it doesn't bring down the whole browser only the one tab.

Sorry OP doesn't help you just thought i'd point this out.
