thinking about a new rig in a month or so, as budget isnt a real issue, would it be worth sticking 4gigs of ram in, for some damn good futureproofing

or would it be un-nesesary (i cant spell that word)

Huh? Why's that? I acquiesce that it's not worth it and it can hurt performance but I don't see why GAMES would, in particular, be limited to 2048 MiB RAM.

Its a windows xp limitation, one program can only use 2GiB of virtual address space, if specially optimised as cad programs etc are then it can use 3GiB and 4Gib in xp-64, games don't have this optimisation though it would just be a waste of time for the programmers to implement it when its not needed.

Oi, read the link you muppet. (And stop changing names, you weren't always JellyBeard ;)).

And btw, it ran fine on a P2 350 with 64mb ram and an Ati rage 8mb back in '98 ;)
