Hi guys,

was hoping for a bit of assistance with a memory upgrade. I purchased a pre-overclocked bundle from OcUK about 4 years ago now. It's still going strong, but I think I might be lacking in the RAM dept. Looking to get fallout 4 soon, and can see a lot of new games recommend 8gig of RAM.

my current spec is above, which is 2x2gb of RAM, probably looking to swap that out for 2x4gb. the CPU is overclocked, which I think means I might need to fiddle with BIOS when I change RAM over? was hoping for a straight switch on the RAM.

would some bog standard DDR33 1600 work here? If I can get a decent boost with say £50 on RAM then jobs a good un. would like to maintain CPU overclock speed if that's relevant....

Thanks in advance.

8gb will indeed help with newer games, and 1600mhz is more than enough for gaming. You may have to do a little tweaking to retain your overclock on the cpu though.

I changed from 4gb 1600 vengeance up to 8gb 1866 vengeance pro and my clock was fine, I had to make no changes apart from setting the ram speed.

Sounds promising thanks! What do you mean by 'setting' the RAM speed? (Sorry!) how do i go about this/what to look out for?

1333mhz is the default speed for DDR3 ram. Anything higher is technically classed as overclocking.
