Hi, I'm considering to upgrade both my PC and laptop to 8GB from 4GB. Will I see a performance improvement?
Tell me about it. I do a lot of development work and tend to need VMWare as well. I have 4GB DDR2. My dilemma is do I buy 2x2GB more RAM for twice what I paid for the stuff I have, or do I use it as an excuse to by an Ivy system when it comes out?Apparently, going to 8gb on BF3 makes quite a difference. Are we talking DDR3 ram? I wouldn't bother buying DDR2 ram as you'll only have to replace it again when you next upgrade.

I think we all know the answer to this...![]()
Performance increase from 4GB to 8GB really depends on what you are doing with the PCs and what the full specifications are. If you can tell us these things we should be able to tell you whether that upgrade is worthwhile.

As above, it really depends what you do.
I noticed quite a big difference, especially when exiting from memory hungry games.
Considering the price of DDR3 at the moment, you may as well go for 16GB
16GB is around £70 at the moment.
