tbh this is close to the truth.
why ?
games need to sell. so many on here keep falling for all the vram arguments.
if the vram is more than the masses posses then the game doesn't sell.
3.5-4gb will be fine for 99 percent for next 2 yrs.

With the way that games are going, how long do you think it will take until 4GB is not enough to play games on max settings
Was reading this thread and thought I would give my new Far Cry 4 game a spin. So I ran the game at 1080p first on my Msi Gaming R9 290 4Gb card, settings were all on high and vram peaked at 2876mb. I then ran the game at 3840X2160, again all settings on high and vram usage peaked at 3863mb, wow wait a minute that's getting pretty close to 4Gb. Now I havn't tried very high or ultra settings as my card was warming up very nicely, peaked at 77c @ 1080p and 80c (was surprised the difference was so close)@4K. Don't know how accurate these findings are, was recorded with gpu-z, gpu usage was 100%. All I can say is I need an 8Gb card and that will be my next purchase, when the newer cards come out.![]()
