Hi,

I have just bought some Corsair XMS2 6400C5 4Gb 2x2Gb, and I know that 32bit Vista wont support the 4Gb but it only seams that I have gained 816Mb totaling 2816Gb, could somebody please explain I thought I would have got at least 3Gb?

I was using 2Gb before the upgrade.

8800GTX, attached is the results from a benchmark from 3D mark 06 showing only 2816Mb

The GTX has 768mb, so it's not all that surprising to see a fair whack of the 4gb being taken up.

I wonder what other people with them are getting on a 32bit OS.

The limit on 32 bit operating systems includes all system memory including graphics card memory and the gtx has 768mb of ram so the 2816mb sounds about right.

edit: beaten to it.

I just orded some of this stuff 4GB for delivery tomorro. I have 64bit Vista installed though so should be fine. Since you have a 32bit OS how about upgrading to 64bit?

I can't afford it just yet, just looked on here and it is £117.49 for Vista Ultimate 64bit, her in doors would kill me i think LOL

But don't you already have Vista 32Bit? You can just re-order the disk from MS and your product licence code from your 32Bit Vista is fully licenced. You can only install 1x64bit or 1x32bit. Only one at a time on the 1 system.

I have Vista 32Bit installed, how much is it to re-order and get the 64 Bit version from MS I never knew that you could do that.

Below £10.00 I do beleive. All you need is your product code you have now and when you re-order the media they will send the 64 bit out or vice versa depending on, which media you have.

edit: Just did it myself, I can order both 32/64bit Business edition for £6.71 ex.V.A.T. MS are finally thinking ahead.

if you've got 32bit vista, just download a 64bit disc and use the same key

the licence is fine for both 32 and 64

Just that I have seen others with 3.25GB without X-FI cards, or ones without 64MB of X-Ram.

He seems to have less than anyone I have seen.

Normal for most is 3GB-3.5GB.

Some even claim the 2MB in your Optical Drives go towards it, I ain't sure on that either.
