4k > 21:9

The best monitor imo i have used is the philips 40 inch 4k, its just amazing but for normal desktop use i coildnt get used to it and it was too big to concentrate on games like dota. 32 inch 4k just gives me mad eye strain dunno how you guys cope

I wouldn't have thought so, but under DSR I think you have like 7 days where you can return for any reason... not recommending you do that though, lol. Got no where local that sells them? A PC world or something? o.O

You have 14 days under CCR. It's not a case of recommending or not recommending someone do this, it's the LAW and your right to return if you're not happy. Simple as that. You can't be denied this right and you do not need to have a reason for returning it. You will have to pay for the return if you're simply not happy with the product. It's only if there is a fault that you will be able to have the return paid for.

It can be a hassle buying monitors online and returning them for reasons that aren't covered by RMA, as you will have to pay for the return otherwise, but you are certainly allowed to do it. Just a shame you can't see most of these high end monitors in shops these days, but that is the whole purpose of CCR, to allow you to inspect it at home just as you would in a shop. You're just paying for the privilege unfortunately if you decide to return it for reasons not 'fault' related. The problem is exacerbated by the fact IPS glow and sometimes bleed aren't even considered faults, which is just absurd. Even stuck/dead pixels aren't always covered. Buying a monitor these days has become one big lottery in many respects.

Couldn't have said that better myself :)

So update mine turned up today, so far I can't find any faults and I have been trying very hard, the NV test was very smooth no lines, no coil whine, no dead pixels, wakes from sleep BLB very good indeed. Could it be this is a new improved batch or can I expect some problems in a few days?

As for the monitor as some of you know I have made the switch from my beloved 4k, the first thing that hit was my god the lack of pixels on the desktop, then the second thing was Jesus the colour is fantastic, my 4k TN panel felt like black and white compared to this it was so washed out. Then I booted up a game, BF4, and I was like nope the X34 is going back look at them jaggies it's horrible but I then realised due to running 4k I wasn't running any AA, this made things better.

I still cannot make my mind up, the monitor looks cool as ****, the colours are better than I have ever seen and the ultra wide is very nice. But writing this now I can see the pixels surrounding this font, not a problem with 4k.

Heres some pics, red or white light??

Interesting thread. Wrestling with the 4k / superwide high(er) Hz dilemma myself at the mo.

Also, a slight aside, but looking at **** and vag every time you turn your comp on is a bit passé aint it? You must be one of those sex people.

But then came a problem, I saw the Acer X34, liking the looks of it a lot, but I'm scared to make the move, scared that I'll miss all that's lovely about my 4k. It's less pixels on a much larger screen, surely it looks like hell sat 50cm back from the screen.

Um, if you can afford 4k why would you want to downgrade to a 1440p? 1440p is basically the poor mans 4k (and I'm speaking as someone who owns a 1440p but can't quite justify the cost of a 4k monitor and the cards it requires to drive it)

IPS panel, better colours, ultra wide, another 40hz all in all I believe equates to a better gaming experience.

4k is lovely, when theres a 32" IPS 4k 120hz panel, I'll switch, but thats a while away yet. 28" is the mininum for 4k and 40" is to big to sit in front of at a desk.

3440x1440 =/= 2560x1440.

How you getting on with yours Howling?

I'm struggling to let go of my 4K the sharpness is just so additive, thing is you get into a game you marvel at how nice it looks then you start playing and you forget all about it, this is where UWQHD comes into it, you have better colours, a faster screen and a wider immersion. It really is 50/50 for me still making my mind up, the 1440p just isn't as nice but then the added FPS increase you get coming down from 4k is, though you have to loose some to add some AA which is something I haven't missed being on 4k.

Love it mate. Not had the glitching issue for about a week - granted I've been busy working during the week, but I've nailed Fallout 4 this weekend and it's been fine, I might have inadvertently fixed the issue but who knows.
The aspect ratio feels so ... natural? I guess. I noticed while playing fallout that the extra width just fills my periphery so edge of the monitor is out of my focus. My only gripe is the ppi - after being 4k for over a year it feels like icons and text is HUUUUGE now by comparison, I'm so used to squinting to read :p Bring on the 5040x2160 screens!

Yeah will be jumping on that 5040X2160 boat straight away but I think it'll be a while till will see that.
Your right about the peripheral vision one of the things I like about it most sitting 70cm back it literally fills it, it's amazing the difference from 60-100hz makes as well, I didn't think I'd feel it but you do.

AAHHHHHH choices!!! the top of internet browser is grey and you can see the pixel lines on that shade, not a problem in 4k.

Keep both? :D

P.S. im super jealous of the X34 you guys have haha

If its not too much trouble any chance of some in game shots with it at all? :D BF4 would be amazing
