Latest from Acer, they say a small batch might come earlier, but no promises. Expect to get it in September, if you get it earlier then a bonus. Those ordering first stand a higher chance of getting one sooner is a small initial batch is shipped before September. :)

03/10/14 now

Brilliant.

From what I've read a lack of gsync modules is to blame, so they couldn't even ship a handful? 2 months this thing has now been delayed, I can honestly see it turning into 3 or 4.

The worst of it is I'm £500 out of pocket and nothing to show for it for another month, I've had my order in since early July. Starting to wish I'd stuck to my guns and got the swift.

You could call sales and they could change your order and just pay the difference. :)

"03/10/14 now"

WHAT?? You're kidding.

Acer should give you a guaranteed ship date and OC should refund all the money to customers until the stock is due in. Maybe what OC should do is take a deposit of say, £50, rather than hanging on to our cash like this? That would seem fair to me.

I was so looking forward to next week to get some 4K gaming goodness in and now I can't even trust that the new date of 3/10 is reliable. Acer are taking the **** IMO, especially after dangling the carrot of an early batch. Pffffttt.

Using the excuse that it is down to G-sync module availability is laughable. ASUS have no such problem with their ROG Swift monitors which are in stock at OC so if ASUS have the G-Sync units why don't Acer?

Asus also have huge problems with supply. The Swift is out of stock in most of UK, Europe and USA.

That's because OCUK have taken all available stock and sold them all Gibbo. You can't fool me :p

Guess I'm going to have to put up with this ASUS Sonicmaster Ultra Wide for another month or three.

In all seriousness, all this pre-order business on everything should be stopped and companies should only make announcements of actual guaranteed delivery of products or only take small deposits to secure pre-orders.

They are not forcing you to pre-order though.

Not taking the full amount, causes issues when stock lands, say it lands two months later, company goes to charge your card remainder owing, it declines for whatever reason and company can't get hold of you. As such they then ship all the stock to customers who's cards did not decline.

Eventually you find out and are crazy mad at them, but due to no fault of their own.

That is why companies take the full amount (some may not) and as with all pre-order items, the time of arrival is an estimation and as these goods are made in Far East and parts are sourced world wide delays can unfortunately happen.

rules, the truth always hurts :)

I was quoting the post above where a none member of staff said other companies doing the same, I was replying to him. To satisfy you I put in (some May not) and that's the truth. :)

Mentioning competitors is against forum rules and that's not changed. So you know. :)

If you (or other retailers) were only announcing and taking pre-orders for rock solid guaranteed stock, say, two weeks in advance, then I wouldn't see any issue with paying in full but also what I'm getting at is that manufacturers should guarantee the supply chain and date of delivery, only when they are absolutely 100% able to supply on the said dates. That way, you as a retailer would know 100% that you could start to take pre-orders 2 weeks in advance paid in full, or smaller deposits before the two week point and the rest of the payment at the two week point. This would also allow two weeks for you to contact anyone in cases where card payments fail. I'm always available, as are most people these days, particularly if you have that two week window. With the tech we have for communication today the world is a tiny place, I don't think there is ever a time when I can't be contacted and most people are likely to be the same.

I know it's not OCUK that are to blame for this delay so please don't take my comments the wrong way. I just hope Acer hurry up and get the stock out to you. Hopefully it will be waaaayyyy before the new ETA but I'm good with the Sonicmaster until the 4K goodie truck arrives.

But if all a Etailors work on two weeks before a guaranteed date, then anyone could do the job. OcUK (myself) digger for this info from Acer and was first world wide to put it up for sale and as such OcUK is the company everyone talks about, good and bad. Being first to market is what OcUK is known for and what so many of our customers love, we're not about to give up that edge over our competitors.

It would never work either because at somepoint one etailor would put for pre-order before two weeks were up so they could claim be first, so it would be impossible to control.

Also by us being first means we win majority share, on the Acer 4k G-Sync we have 2/3 of the overall UK stock landing.

We bring our customers traditionally the latest products first both to pre-order and on the shelf. :)
