4K Gaming with 1080 ti Choppy

I'm not surprised to read you're finding it a bit choppy at 4K res - I think a single 1080Ti isnt as hot as it was made out to be! I wouldnt want to run 4K on a single Ti, its only just about where I want it to be for 1440p.

Also i think your rig is more than adequate..I wouldnt be upgrading it to a Gen 7 Intel rig myself! I was thinking about upgrading mine but when I looked into it I doubt I'd notice any difference and decided to wait for Coffeelake next year!

I can easily get 111fps on 4k on ultra in PVZ GW2 now with my 1080ti, probably not the most demanding games but with my Titan I was not able to run smoothly at 2560x1600.

I must admit, at first I felt a little let down but now I havbe all the bugs ironed out I am VERY VERY impressed with it.

Now I just have to decide whether or not to upgrade my ram to something a bit quicker. Would it help going from 1600mhz to 2400mhz?

Go in to the Nvidia options and set Fastsync.

Or set Global V-sync to on and Triple buffering on. That way it shouldn't drop to 30fps.

that's exactly where I am as well. my 3930k is going strong, no sign of aging yet and nothing is worth upgrading to from both Intel or AMD. Just hope it keeps going strong for 2 more years at least

I think you are right, I just pressed a button and went from 3200 to 4250 with no problems so far. Pretty amazing!!

I am just so lucky that my motherboard was pci express 3 ready

Ok I found FastSync but it was working @60fps perfectly on normal Vsync so should I leave it alone? It seems if I enable Fastsync I am just going to be rendering more frames for the same outcome.

I've had this problem with two monitors and a small handful of games. It's basically syncing at half refresh. I think it's a Windows 10 issue but yeah, happened a few times.

Fallout 4 was the worst because i could not force change it without it acting all weird.

I remember reading something about DP @ 60hz being made up of two 30hz signals and that is where it gets the 30hz sync from. However it also happened over HDMI.

I wouldn't worry too much, I'm sure it got fixed over time. Also, just make sure you've installed any drivers for your monitor and under your actual GPU properties in Device Manager it's set to 59hz or 60hz whatever is showing there.

Oh yeah... Go into Nvidia control panel and set Adaptive Vsync globally. This in itself should take care of your tearing/smoothness issue.
