On monitor 1 I was using HDMI cable but I have switched to the other one for gaming which has a "mini displayport". I just ordered 2x standard displayport cables to get them both onto DP cables.

Thanks guys!

I'm not surprised to read you're finding it a bit choppy at 4K res - I think a single 1080Ti isnt as hot as it was made out to be! I wouldnt want to run 4K on a single Ti, its only just about where I want it to be for 1440p.

Also i think your rig is more than adequate..I wouldnt be upgrading it to a Gen 7 Intel rig myself! I was thinking about upgrading mine but when I looked into it I doubt I'd notice any difference and decided to wait for Coffeelake next year!

I don't have any problem running 4 cards.:)

I have used 4 way setups many times on my 3930k. Ryzen can not run 4 way SLI as it is limited to 24 PCI-E lanes, this is not a problem the 3930k has.

Another advantage the 3930k has is it can OC to 5.0ghz something Ryzen can not get near but again something that is useful driving 4 cards at lower resolutions.

To the OP make sure you are running PCI-E 3.0

OK so how much do Intel's marketing group pay you? :p

why would you put nearly 4 grands worth of cards with that cpu lol. what a comment
There is nothing worth upgrading to at lest that's why I never upgraded from my 3930k. Its still one of the fastest CPU's on the market and OCs great. There are better CPU's but you only get 5% more speed for £1000 cost. The way I see it my OC 3930k is basically around stock Ryzen level performance only we had it 6 years ago.

What is wrong with the 3930k? Its not the fastest anymore but its still right up there in the top range. What is there worth upgrading to?

EDIT: Just to be clear I am talking about app and game performance. Not Synthetic benchmarks.

that's exactly where I am as well. my 3930k is going strong, no sign of aging yet and nothing is worth upgrading to from both Intel or AMD. Just hope it keeps going strong for 2 more years at least :)

I've had this problem with two monitors and a small handful of games. It's basically syncing at half refresh. I think it's a Windows 10 issue but yeah, happened a few times.

Fallout 4 was the worst because i could not force change it without it acting all weird.

I remember reading something about DP @ 60hz being made up of two 30hz signals and that is where it gets the 30hz sync from. However it also happened over HDMI.

I wouldn't worry too much, I'm sure it got fixed over time. Also, just make sure you've installed any drivers for your monitor and under your actual GPU properties in Device Manager it's set to 59hz or 60hz whatever is showing there.

Oh yeah... Go into Nvidia control panel and set Adaptive Vsync globally. This in itself should take care of your tearing/smoothness issue.
