Hi Guys, i'm new to both Gsync and 4K so have a couple questions.

Background:
My laptop died so I have no machine to game on currently :(. So i'm looking at buying the "Ultima Dedsec" (Link at the bottom) with a SLI config for 2x 780Ti.

I'm going to run one 4K Gsync screen then a second 1080p. (Something like this http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MO-065-AC&groupid=17&catid=1895)

All gaming will be done on the 4K screen.

I'd like to run all current games at max and not have to upgrade for a couple of years.

Questions:
My understanding is that its more about VRAM than processing power, under that assumption will the 2 780Ti 3072mb be enough?

Is there a better set of cards to go for?

Is there anything I should be aware about before purchasing?

Thanks in Advance.

Running 4k at 3GB will cause you to run out of VRAM which will cause stuttering and other issues. If you really want 4k, the 4GB AMD 290 cards should be the minimum really. You could alternatively get 2x 8GB 290s or 2x 6GB 780s, they would be the ideal choice.

3GB isn't ideal for 4K. Sure you can turn settings down and in some cases, you will have no choice but the beauty of G-Sync is in low frame scenarios, it is supposed to smooth out the gaming experience. I can't remember exactly what was what but they said something along the lines of "40fps will feel like 60fps" (or close to those figures.

I would grab a pair of 780 6GB cards if buying for 4K :)

The msi, gainward and kfa2 6gb 780's are all £399 :)

3gb vram over two cards at 4k isn't a massive issue right now as the scenarios in which you'd breach 3gb you'd be far more likely to run out of grunt first.

Tried and tested.

BF4
780Ti Tri SLi > 4K Ultra Preset > No MSAA...hitching when grenades go off and when turning quickly. Frame buffer full...

BF4 came out last Christmas. 3 to 4Gb is not enough at 4K.

Aye but since evga let you remove shroud for water, (kind of makes it my choice now lol)

That must be the third card driving it above 3GB, I know its not 100% accurate but as good as, using the internal resolution scaling set at 4K, ultra no MSAA, 64 player siege of shanghai my peak vRam usage was 2751mb, average usage floating around 2600mb.

Single and dual 3-4GB cards at 4K yes, tri and quad no IMO.

I'll be having the machine built by Overclockers (as its watercooled and I have no experience with such things).

I've requested a quote for 2 GTX 780 6GB cards so we'll see.

Thanks for the advise.

Any less than three is futile :p

Oh, and I didn't go over using the internal scaler, in fact I could down sample and user the scaler to 10% driving it above 4k. So for whatever reason it's not a great comparison
