4K HDR T.V for movie content and gaming

The KS8000 is supposed to be very good for handling games - I've got one on order myself. If you pop across to avforums they have a good review along with a few lengthy discussions about current TVs and gaming lag. There's a sub forum under Televisions called "Which TV Should I Buy" which should give you a wealth of information.

My aunt has just bought the 850V.

Does the TV apply HDR to everything or is HDR actually something that must be incorporated into the signal?

I.e, no HDR signal, no HDR.

I brought the same LG this summer, most impressed with it. I have been redecorating my living room so also took the opportunity to mount the wires behind the wall.

Hoping to get 4k HDR tv soon, more or less settled for the Samsung UE55KS7000, I think it hits the sweet spot for price/performance, unless anyone has any better ideas?

Just make sure if you go for any LG TV thats LCD TECH.. that you look for banding on football games or other content as well as flash lighting in both bottom corners.
and bright vertical lines on white text on black backgrounds.....

very reason why i went OLED....

Anyone have the Samsung UE49KU6400 and know if its ok? Worth it over the UE50KU6000? Not going to be gaming much on it.

Just read a digital foundry review of the Panasonic DX750 and they mentioned that the Samsung UHD models have problems with HDR and game mode, has this been ironed out yet with firmware updates? or has anyone experienced such issues?

Digital Foundry are wrong. There are no issues with game mode and HDR. If a game supports HDR then it will be displayed as such.

Confusion has arisen because you cannot enable Game mode and an additional mode called HDR+. HDR+ is an option designed to enhance non HDR sources.

What are people's opinions on curved screens? are they just a gimmick? I've seen them in stores but it's not the right environment to test out properly, and do they warp the image (if you know what I mean lol)

Any reason why from John Lewis specifically?

Currys have a 5 year guarantee with it anyway.

you donn't need to look for or have the 5yr guarenttee you will find that if you say spend £400 on wards you will find if you dig deep under the consumers act you would be covered for repairs/replacement regardless if its an tv, washing machine etc etc. just don't let these shops fob you off. i used it twice up to now and the tv again has gone down again within 6 months of last repair time for replacement or particial refund as this would be covered under unfit for purpose

as to curved tv its down to personal choice but to me its a gimmick
