I've just bought a Fury and want to try freesync, just wondered what would look better, 4k with setting turned down or 1080 on ultra?
I'm guessing 1440 would be the sensible choice, but just wondered what the answer was.

There's a freesync one too if you want, the X34 freesynced version. As for the xbone I don't know much about that but it should run at 1080p upscaled to 1440p, with black bars on the sides. Some games may have some workaround to run at 2560x1080 (upscaled at 3440x1440) but I wouldn't count on that too much. These are gaming monitors, not tv, so they like to be feeded by a pc.

It's probably more like 4K high/med setting for most games with a Fury. I know that an overclocked Fury is very comfortable driving a 3440x1440 screen.

I'm not sure what you're asking TBH. Would I rather buy a 1920x1080 or 4K monitor?

Graphically, high settings @ 1080p would look better than low settings @ 4k.

For the xbox, most games run at or below 1080p. So, the game itself wouldn't run above that resolution. The TV might upscale the resolution output by the xbox to match the tv, but it won't be 'true' 4k.

No sorry, I just wondered which one would look better the 1080 or 4k or if there would be much difference. It may sound like a stupid question, but oviously I wouldnt max out 4k, therefore would the 1080 being maxed out look better than the 4k on the lower settings?
Just I havent seen 4k on a monitor.

Ok thats great thanks, would it fit the whole screen properly then? As obviously the xbox one can't upscale to 4k

If you plug a 4k monitor to an xbone it runs at 1080p, so it may even be an 8k, it would have the same performances of a 1080 screen. It's the gpu that moves the pixels the monitor only shows them so on a 4k monitor you would simply have a grid of 4 pixels reacting as if it was a single one.

Thats good then cheers for that.

I suppose a better way to word it for what I'm trying to get at is:
What resolution would look best with a Fury?

In a perfect world, unfortunately this often isn't the case and your end up with a soft image.

I'd pick 1080p at high settings over 4k on low all day long. Something in the middle is probably best :)
