5½ minutes to stop the executions

Yes your right I'm sorry for being ridiculous in thinking that Iran will not outlaw the death penalty even if you write letters to them.

Perhaps you could write some letters to Kony asking him to behave while you're at it, I'm sure he'll be receptive.

Point > Missed :)

Congratulations.

You're*

Getting rid of the death penalty and Gitmo are long game things, obviously. It'd be unrealistic to ask for stuff like that to happen instantly... and the fact that it hasn't is a stupid reason to criticise the broad ~campaign~.

ironic in a thread titled "5½ minutes to stop the executions" don't you think?

No! God damn it! If it doesn't happen over night via a letter, it just confirms that letters do not work.

Could I not use the same argument regarding his post? If you don't like it, don't read it? At least with posts there is an ignore function, there is no ignore thread function.

Yes but 10000000000 times of LOLhausen is pretty damn old now it is one of those memes that is really annoying & needs to be phased out of the forums if you ask me.

You can ignore the thread too you see his name don't open it?

jeez.

Asking for too much there I'm afraid.

well it hasn't happened in several decades (and I'm betting there were campaigns against it at least 100 years ago in the US) so maybe it's time to rethink your strategy...

But please post a copy of your letter to the Iranian government when you write it, I'll be interested to read it.

Assuming of course you will actually bother to write one?

As Tummy says. It's about the video inspiring in that time, obviously.

What's that, make stupid side points whilst ignoring the core? It's almost as though your criticism's retarded... HMMMM...

you going to do anything then?

What have you been inspired to do by this video and how much of a change do you think it will achieve?

Again, Point. Missed. Well done Tefal.

What is wrong with spreading awareness my friend? These letters and video's spread awareness! The more people that are made aware of the injustices in the world the more the world will be forced to change.

You can't ignore the thread title though. It's kind of hard not to click and respond when you're browsing the thread list and a Daily Mail style thread appears, it's pretty much baiting a reaction.

Video thread then? I've seen more worthy videos in there that need spreading. Iran doesn't care how we feel about their laws.

So You're not going to write one?

This is my point, you all wade in, watch the video then pat yourselves on the back telling yourselves you're changing the world by raising awareness!
When in reality you have done nothing, you haven't made any effort the world is just the same as it was before, all you've done is waste 5 and a half minutes and made yourself feel a little bit more self important.

If you want to change something, go out and help change it don't watch a video and pretend you're helping.

Err no, the whole world can be aware of a problem, and it won't be solved. People have to act to change things not simply be aware of the issue.

Who said anything about me, writing or not writing a letter?

No, you don't have a point.

I'm sorry, raising awareness does lead to change. In reality the more people that are made aware the better. It might only take a ~handful of people to be motivated to the extreme to go and act upon this and if that does happen it's a resounding success.

As for awareness not working, ha.

Votes for women, black rights, death penalty.

Err again raising awareness "works"! because the vast mjority like you are apathetic to the cause and so you need to reach 10 million people to get the 100 people who will act.

But don't congratulate yourself for being one of the 9,999,900 people who didn't act.
