5.1 amps with 2-3 HDMI inputs?

looking to get one of these in the next 2 months. hate cables. found a sony one a while back for about £190. anyone know any they can recommend?
 
Depends what you want out of the amp.
Do you want audio over HDMI?
How many speakers? You bothered about the latest sound encoding etc?
What is your max budget and what speakers do you want to use with it?
Will the amp be used for a lot of music as well as from video?
 
i want it for blu rays really. 5.1 (not 7.1 - not a big enough room really) and yes, audio over HDMI since i plan to connect it to a radeon later on in the year and they now supports all the HD audo goodness i think. music? mp3s and the odd flac, mainly movies really.

max budget? not much, maybe £250 matey
 
for that budget u can get the ONKYO TXSR507. which has 4 HDMI in puts, HD audio, i myself was looking at this one when i was buying mine but it was £100 more than the 250.
 
looks decent. wonder if it's overkill for my needs.

i doubt i'll get a ps3 - and all i'll really have connected is:

a pc - HDMI
sky HD - HDMI
xbox 360 - vga/component

3 hdmi inputs just in case i get a new xbox with hdmi or something unexpected arrives :o

does the ONKYO TXSR507 seem overkill for that? Or do you think i could get away with something lesser?

Well for movies, even though you have the video you need the audio to go with it. I would say the ONKYO TSSR507 would be good and also if you move into a larger room for more speakers.
 
i'm moving into a new flat and can't see it being big enough for 7.1. 5.1 would do the trick i think.

what about wireless speaker? can't remember where the outlets are so might not be doable, but would be nice to have less cables around the placec
 
ok, all else is sorted, just need to figure out what speaker to get with this now.
