5.1 for TV

Hey all,

The father is after a decent 5.1 system to hook up to his 32" Samsung LCD TV. Just going to be used for DVDs and freeview, no real HD sources.

What would you recommend for £150 tops?

It's a bit of a tough price bracket to get any 5.1 speakers in. You will have to go for PC speakers, probably Logitech X-540 or maybe Creative T6200, that will have to connect to the DVD players analogue 5.1 sockets, if it has them. You won't get any digital ones for that budget, unless you can find a good deal on the popular auction site for a 1 box solution, ie, receiver built into the sub unit. Like Logitech Z-5500 would be a good example, but you will hard pushed to find them around the £200 mark.

Without digital 5.1, you would have no way of connecting them to the TV, so it would be DVD player only for an analogue set.
