5.1 Speakers Amp needed.

Ok ive been given a set of 5.1 speakers with Sub woofer. Ill upgrade when fund allow but for the time this would do.

Ive searched and searched to no avail. I have a TV which has Optical Audio. So would i need an amp that has optical? Would any amp do? Dont want it to be cinema loud but would the speakers have to match the amp?

Would a normal jack lead do the trick or would the movie be out of sync?

Im confused lol

What TV do you have?

Does it have HMDI??

Also what other stuff do you have? Sky hd? Blu ray etc.

Ive got Tivo, TV is newish Plasma LG 42" 3D it has optical, red and white aux out. Ive also got a PC connected. All HDMI etc. Quite a new set up really.

I play all my movies via USB HDD.

better off getting an av receiver imo.

as above - an av receiver is what you want - not an amp.

Basically connect everything to the av receiver and then HDMI out from the receiver to the tv.
