currently have a 40" samsung LE40A656 tv in my living room on which i play xbox360 and ps3 (blu rays and games) and tomorrow am getting V+ installed

Im looking to get a 5.1 system to go with it and was looking for ideas, I really like the look of the HT-TX715T as it matches the telly, but am open to suggestions within a £350 budget (absolutely cant stretch any further)

thanks in advance for your suggestions

(Obviously I dont want competitor links, but price and system name are fine, I can google them from there )

Sony htss1300 / Sony htsf1300

Great system with 3 hdmi in etc.
Sounds very good for the price and looks the part to.

The models are both the same apart from one has tallboy speakers and other does not.
£260-330 depending on which one you go for.

Sony STRK880/Kef KHT1005

Allowing for future upgrade of individual components. Combined cost of £350.

Thinking about it however, I'd probably recommend start with a 2.0 system and working upwards as finances allow. £350 is not a lot of money for a 5.1 system. Its also worth looking at the second hand market, either on the bay or AVforums.

My own system is only 3.1 atm and thats gone though several upgrades over the last 18 months, starting with the kit I brought at Uni.

Mission 731le speakers > replaced by Kef Q15.2 some 7 or 8 years ago.
NAD302 amp > replaced by Cambridge Audio Azur 640R 18 months ago (I weap when I see the price of them now)
Kef iQ2c center speaker added 6months ago
Epos M Subwoofer added 3 weeks ago
Cambridge Audio CD4 > Added a Cambridge Audio Dac Magic 2i (10 years ago?probably longer) > replaced by Marantz 6000 OSE (7 or 8 years ago)

The original kit could probably be put together for less than £150 second hand. For £350 you could undoubtely get a AV reciever capable of 5.1 and a much better set of speaker than the ones I had originally. You can then add the extra speakers later.

2nd for Sony HT-SF1300. I have it myself and love it. Sure, it's a fixed system, but thats what I wanted - something simple and good.

It's been superb for BD and DVD, and music sounds brilliant. Have never really taken it past half volume as it's far too loud :)

Sure, it's probably not for audiophiles, but for most people it's quite good.
