5.1 System.

Get my new sound card this weekend and i would like to know the best way to set my sound system up for it. My system has 5 speakers and a bass box. on top of the box it says its supports dolby digital pro logic 2 and DTS Surround. Now i have the sound system set up using my realtek but i am not sure if its set up correctly. The back speakers are not very loud and a lot sound comes out of the centre speaker which im guessing is normal. I have it all running through the optical but at the back i have a coaxial port and left and right. not sure which connect is best?

Nothing between optical and coaxcil use which ever. Have you got any DTS coded DVD's or mkv files to try the system with? Set up our audio codec to use DD/DTS pass through and yo should get 5.1 from corectly encoded files.

Don't think you'll get 5.1 from the PC (games etc) see post below:

Sorry i missed the 'sound card' part of your mail (thought you were using on board) what sound card is it?

Then read the below post, it'll clear up the 5.1 issue (it helped me)

I am using onboard at moment but im thinking about buying this for games tomoz.

Problem is i have only got optical cable for my onboard set up and i dont know how to set it up with this sound card through the 5 jacks. Connections on the back of my 5.1 box like i said are optical and coaxial.
