And I thought Pakistan\Afghanistan were bad for this kind of thing...

the snake pass is not at all a bad road bar when it gets icey, i used to drive it 4-5 times a week. Fun, yes, dangerous? No, far more dangerous roads around :)

Wheres the snake pass again? i was on a fun road a few nights back when i was trying to get from Manchester to Honley, It might have been the A616 from the A56, that was fun in this icy weather:eek:

There are some truly wonderfull roads in the north.

Snake pass goes from sheffield to glossop :)

I dont understand Snake Pass being labelled dangerous. When I lived in Sheffield I used it 10+ times a week for when I needed to get to the M6 etc.

Its only dangerous as tom says when it gets icey/bad weather. But even then its only as bad as any other country road imo.

few fun roads in the lake district too, A592 windermere - troutbeck - ullswater.

Not too bad but i drove it a few months after i passed so it's the most fun road i've driven so far :)

Comparing Snake Pass and the roads in that picture and saying they're both dangerous is like saying bumper cars and a destruction derby is as dangerous. Just no.

i have been on some roads like number 5 when i was in the himalayas, the scary thing is that they bomb down those roads and OVERTAKE on them. also there is 2 way traffic :D also there is a huge amount of traffic due to tourism.

basically i need a new pair of pants more than once!!

I used to use snake pass regularly, i didn't find it dangerous, though i know of one person who crashed along there. However - from when i was a kid, i didn't like the Sychanant (sp) pass in North Wales, that was quite high up with roads with no barriers and only a fall to certain death in parts. and it was quite narrow too (2 cars could just about pass though).
