I am due to get another car soon for work and have narrowed it down to this selection:

3 Series GT M Sport or Luxury
5 Series M Sport or Luxury
Had a drive out today in both but I still can’t make my mind up which one to go for!

Anyone got any pro’s and cons on any of these?

The 5 Series is better than the 3GT in every possible way bar perhaps practicality of the rear hatch. It is better built, has a better interior, is more refined, has better specification, its just.. better.

Go Luxury for a company car as you'll get proper Pro Navigation etc (and nothing is more naff than all the sporty looks and an eco 2 litre diesel under the bonnet anyway).

What is the GT Gran Turismo version :confused:do they have bigger engines in them? They are hideous to look at  and the back end is that big it always makes the wheels look like tiny casters on a sofa. What would make anyone want it over the normal 3/5 series?

Had a test drive of the 5 Series today but it was a later version as all the others were out as well.

Drove the GT felt the same as my present 3 Series for obvious reasons. Did like the extra leg room at the back and tail gate. I didn't realise that the GT had an electronic spoiler that lifts up at around 70MPH or you can manual raise it.

Surely if you're looking at the 3GT then the 5 comparison is the Touring or 5GT. You only buy a GT for the extra space and convenience which the 5 saloon doesn't have, else get a 3 or 5 Saloon.

Boot isn't all that big in the 5 GT due to the sloping roof.

5 Touring had more space with seats up, GT with seats down.
It is noticeably bigger on the road though. Narrow city streets and tight car parks are not its forte.
Autobahn or rear passenger is where it's at.

OP: get a 5 Luxury.

Was looking at these with a neighbour last year... the 3GT is horrible.

It's the 5 series chassis... with 3 series suspension and interior... and it's closer to the price of the 5 series than I normal 3... don't get why anyone would buy one.

The 5 series is better in many ways.

I have had 2x 3 series to date and thought it would make a change to get the GT as it looked different.
I have no love for the Tourer so they are out of the question.

The 5 series is a range that I always wanted to try.

I have looked at the Jaguar XE, Audi's A4, A5, and even an A6.

I did look at the 4 Series but could not see the point over a normal 3.

So my choice remains the same. I thank you all for your inputs as it helps me decide what to go for.

TBH if the 4 doesn't do anything for you, and neither does a 3 Touring, I can't see how a 3 GT would float your boat either.

I look forward to seeing your post about your brand new 5 Luxury ;)

I'm all for the 5 series but the 3 GT caught my eye  so it;s a toss up between the two.

The 5 GT is bit to expensive for my tastes. so I would rather a 5 Saloon instead.

The only reason why I got this interest in the 3 GT is because I have already had 2x 3 series already but had the mad urge to look at this different iteration of the 3 Series.

To be honest I have not seen any on the road (Maybe they are not selling !!!) only the 5 GT so I feel like breaking the mould just to be different.

I am fully aware that the 5 is the better car but sometimes dont you feel like doing something crazy?:D

I'm really not sure a 2 litre diesel hatchback 3 Series is quite the definition of 'doing something crazy' when it comes to picking a company car :D

Hi Fox,

I'm opting out of the car scheme so I can get anything as long as it does not go over 175 g/km
