Hello, I bought here a while back a gaming system, sadly my GTX 680 has lost a fan and i wondering what a replacement would cost of similar power, im also thinking about RAM, I only have 8gb

Intel i5k
Z87oc haswell 1150
gtx 680
8gb RAM
Win 10, 750w power.

I dont have the money for a total upgrade so looking for any advise what is best bang for buck, thanks for any advice.

Cheers, Joel

Clock the the K series CPU - if not done so already(?)

Add another 8GB of 'second hand' matching/similar specced memory ~£20

Most importantly upgrade the GPU add a 1660 Super depending on budget - can be had for ~£200.

My basket at Overclockers UK:

Or the RX590 which can be had for approx ~£150 - and still a big boost over your 680.

*What is the brand/model of the PSU?

Thanks, yeah i ve not clocked it i was always too scared, same with the card lol, it still works, but one fan is dead, cn i still keep it in or is it so old now its not worth it?

I must buy another 8gb ram, i know that will help. Yummy looking card, i might just be tempted enough

what about the 1060 for a wee little saving?

What case do you have a nice AO cooler can be had for under 100 pounds

Ocing the z87 is really easy a lot of guides out there I did my mates 8700k stable oc in under an hour

That RX590 for £160 is a bargain I reckon.... If it was me I'd go with that and add another 8gb with remaining money

I have CNSP11x cooler, and the case is Corsair obsidian, massive thing, my CPU never get hotter than 48oc, yeah i did plan to oc it that was i got the k and an OC board, but when i loooked into it and heard horror stories i didnt bother, i never have probs where my CPU has been underpowered, its usually and always the RAM

Thanks for rep[lies, that rx590 sems crazy for £160, £30 on RAM and £10 for shipping and bobs your uncle

found the guide i used but dont want to link it incase its against forum rules, i see you dont have trust confirgured google
The Gigabyte Z87/Haswell Overclocking(OC) Guide it is very comprehencive

Ufff, cant decide if the rx590 now or not, i have about £200 for the card now, but i think the rx590 is still good in that range aye? Just if im spending £200, what is there for £250, is it worth it? idk, confusing now

thanks

At 200 there's the gtx 1660 super at around 250 then it's the rx5600xt or the rtx 2060.

Monitor?

As alluded to before, if it's a 60Hz standard 1080p panel I would get the 2060 Super and put the savings towards 8GB more memory. The 5600XT is a great card (few teething issues) but: clocking that K series CPU, adding an additional 8GB and all coupled with a 1660 Super will see a healthy boost in your system and all within your revised budget.
