£50-£80 quiet cool overclocking case needed!

Which case out the v1000+ and pc7+ would you say would run cooler and quieter for a sli setup..

In other words..which one would be more suitable.

An Akasa Eclipse - don't you follow these groups? In the last two 'My SLi Rig is overheating' threads, it's been Akasa Eclipse to the rescue.

And before anyone says 'plastic' - that's a question of taste. Do you prefer to taste the acrid smoke of burnt out cards - or the sweet taste of successful cooling?

SLI rig I would take the Eclipse aswell over just about anything.

The v1000+ is certainly capeable of running a SLI rig just fine but the Eclipse seems to be much better suited to SLI than any other case.

PC7+ can handle SLI but its a bit of a squeeze, the v1000+ can handle SLI just fine but will be a bit noisey, but it can handle it easily.

The eclipse, is cheaper (or add a blowhole side panel) cools well, is built well, and it can be quiet with a SLI rig!

The one major flaw with the eclipse is the use of plastic on the front, its good quality plastic as far as it goes, but plastic none the less.

Coolermasters after sale service has gone to pot, the quality control has got to terrible levels now, its a right old bad state of affairs and I would struggle now to recommend any case made by Coolermaster, as they provide no support and the build quality is getting to the state of the old thermaltakes now.

Overpriced for what they are, last 2 centurions I have seen are not a patch on the ones 4 months ago even, it really is a bad state of affairs :(

The Eclipse is just about your best bet, its built well and is the best case from a cooling / noise point of view for SLI.

In answer to your question, the v1000+ would be better, I have ran a SLI rig in a v1000 and a friend of mine has a 7800gt SLI rig in a v1000+ just fine.

the tsunami dream cant be that bad at all. i have the cheaper thermaltake suprano, every fan in my case is a 120mm fan running <1500rpm. damn fine case keeping my opteron @ 48c load at 2.98ghz. i dont care if it has a plastic front tbh. My old case was a silverstone sst lc-03, so i know quality.

Yup and seriously, after seeing both of the cases, the Soprano is superior in my eyes by a mile, the Tsunami is more like what the old thermaltake used to be like.

yewen. How is the pc7+ better than the tsunami? As they both have good ventilation, but the tsunami has more features. Maybe the build quality is better on the pc7+ but the tsunami is quieter as its not all aluminum and it has rubber things to stop the hard drives vibrating etc

NOoooooo way.

The Tnsuanmi or whatever has 3 fans as stock, all of which are LOUD. Some rubber things on the HD's dont mean jack. You can easily do that to the PC7+.

The tsunami has bad attention to detail too. DO NOT get it. PC7+ is a generation ahead.

Still the PC7+.

Trust me, if you see the both cases close up, the PC7+ is such a better case, sure its quite boring to look at. But when working with it you get the occasional smile because you know someone actually thought about this case.

The Tusnami is a good case, but cmon, ORANGE fans that are incredibly loud, Lime green PCI locks which are known to snap. Also, people on a well known silence forum (SPCR) say its a bitch to silent.

Noni you have just made me smile, you defended a Lian Li, and the boring one as you put it :D

Made my day that has, you have agreed with me on something :)

Anyhow, everything Noni has said is right, the PC7+ is such a huge leap foreward you would not beleive it, if you want a Thermaltake look at the Soprano or Shark, but they pale in comparrisson to the low high end case king, the PC7!

If you can live with its very basic looks there is not a better case sub £100.

(The eclipse is on a par, better cooling and easier to make quiet but more expensive, so is only the PC7+#s equal.)

Lol,

I just hate thermaltake

wow that rhymed.

Watch out with Coolermaster though Noni, they are getting on the line of thermaltack now, have you seen the quality control, or lack of it, that Coolermaster are at now

Its terrible, I think the last good coolermaster was the original stacker, and the new one when they get the quality control right.

The new ones may change that opinion, but I know I will not be religously buying Coolermaster anymore, 4 years of buying ended last week with a Centurion I got. Then sent back instantly.

Well yep, they are going more mainstream, but slowly.

You can see that in the cases, they are becoming more mainstream, but theres still a hint of the original coolermaster there.

The wavemaster-2 looks interesting, I will be looking closely if theres a black version and the quality and looks are good.

When it comes to the aluminium market, Lian Li tops the UK's case supply now.

Such a shame to see the ATC go, a few upgrades and it will still be chugging along.

At least I owned one, so be-it of a short time.

ATC-Tek MRO 18 is what I want to get my hands on now, before coolermaster got there hands on them and made ATCS cases.

The ATC-Tek cases are even better than the ATCS Coolermaster hybrids, although I have only been lucky enough to see the 16. :)
