Hi All

Me and my dad are having a pretty good year with the business so have being contemplating chopping in the 370z black edition + some cash to get a new car which the plan would be to let my mum drive all the time and we would use on a weekend / evening (so nothing that wouldn't work at all on a day to day basis)

The finance would take the place of an asset finance agreement with 3 way liability over 5 years with a balloon payment at the end (with the balloon depending on how it gears the repayments and what the residuals would be)

The list at the moment (be aware age plays an important part with asset finance so anything 3+ years old is out of the question, for instance there are some V10 R8's on Pistonheads within that price range but there 2011's which is getting a bit old)

Brand new or used F type V8 500bhp - List price 80k (i am assuming no options at that price though such as the carbon inset wheels) - As with the GTR im guessing there are some expensive options as the Project Eight F type is 125k :o

Brand new or used GTR - List price 78k - again no idea on options at that price, i would imagine the options can increase that a lot as the Nismo GTR we saw at goodwood is 125k! :o again too much money..

2 year old ish V8 R8 (oldest we could get away with would probably be 2012) - seems to be plenty of these about with varying mileage which we would have to go look at

We are going to try and get test drives in the above but what should also be on our list to try which is a similar vein of car

1. Neither of us are mad on BMW's
2. We both like Porches but would probably prefer one of the above however having said that we don't know what level of Porsche that price gets us and we will have to go to the garage and see
3. Neither of us like impreza's, subarus etc
4. The 370z has 20k miles on it from new after 5 years so that gives you an idea of anticipated mileage
5. The business would pay for all the tyres, servicing, tax, insurance etc but we would have to put petrol in it ourselves however that doesn't mean we want to leave ourselves open for some massive MAINTENANCE bills.
6. Link to the above criteria on Pistonheads - http://www.pistonheads.com/classifi...&SortOptions=PriceHighToLow&isExperiment=True
7. My dad likes mustangs but i am not so sure.. How does one even organise a test drive in such a car ? do Ford have high performance centers like Nissan ?

Spending 50-80k on a car and you're worried about the petrol costs? lol

No, thats not what i said, that doesn't worry me, setting myself up for massive bills does though

Yes to the RS6, added that to the list, need to look at list price on one of those

Cheers for input guys so far

We are going to Car Fest next weekend as well so we can speak to some dealer there albeit most of the dealers are very high end and out of our budget.

Buying a high performance car, worried about fuel bills.

Rite

I'm sorry the point wasn't phrased very well

To elaborate

Fuel = no problem

Massive maintenance bills even though business can pay some costs = not good

The 370z has not missed a beat in the entire 5 years apart from some small tracking issue that Nissan sorted, this is my point.

You guys go into great detail on some of the threads where you discuss running costs outside of Fuel, this is the kind of info i am looking for.

Ah, I see. Fair enough. Still, you will inevitably have high bills with a car of this nature as the parts are very expensive.

If you're looking at a brand new, or very close to brand new, GTR, give this one a look - http://www.simonjamescars.co.uk/nissan-gt-r-550-recaro-in-derbyshire-3754544.

It's about 3 months old and owned by a GTR Owners Club member, very well looked after and at nearly £10k under list price for 3 month old it's a great price.

You also need to look out for whether models are getting a refresh in the future as that could drastically reduce resale value.

Although surely with cars like this that are new/nearly new you'd get a warranty so outside of the normal servicing/consumables it shouldn't cost much?

I appreciate that you're just looking for car options but I can't help but feel that I'd rather just have my own car than share it with someone else, even if that meant buying a cheaper one.

It sounds from your original post that it will be driven during the week by your mum and at the weekends by you. Is your mum really going to want to be driving around in something like a GTR? Is her name Jodie Kidd by any chance? Are you sure that this isn't just your cover story to get the insurance cheaper? :)

Its not far away from me either that, i am assuming the first visit is going to be to a Nissan high performance center but yea we can look at that.

Not sure about white though we would have to look at it, the only color preference id really have out of all 3 current options is having a red R8 as it seems to really suit it...

I am not sure whats happening with the GTR ? i know the general shape has not changed in ages but the technology has come on loads, launch control etc, is a major refresh on the cards ?

Well she has driven the 370z around for long enough lol, its nothing to do with insurance as it would be the one car your allowed on a company fleet policy not owned by the company..

I agree though this level of car is a step up and is a concern

Yea i can get some pictures up...
