I hope I'm proven wrong but I expect this will follow the same pattern as all of the other subscription services:
1. Announce steep price increase/clamp down on subscription sharing.
2. Public backlash of people saying they're cancelling, goodbyes, they're done with it for good etc.
3. Several months later, announce record number of subscriptions.
4. Profit.
The past several years I've gotten Gamepass Ultimate cheaper due to a friends employee benefits but I personally wouldn't pay full price, even prior to the maassive increase. As someone with a full time job and kids, it can take me ages to finish a game, I just wouldn't be getting good value at full price. Ultimate is the one with the biggest increase (over 50% is bonkers) and I wonder what proportion of their customers that covers - I've just looked it up and it's estimated/claimed as being ~70%, which is way higher than I thought it would be. Maybe this will result in people downgrading to lower tiers. I wonder what chunk of their customer base is parents buying it for their kids...
