Hey guys. Long time no post, but I'm in need of some help!

I'm going off to uni to do mechanical engineering, and am looking for something with a fairly powerful processor, 4gb ram, and an okay-ish graphics card so I can run maple, and autoCAD, etc.

It's been a long time since I've looked at hardware prices, so I've got no clue about what's good anymore!

Budget is £500-£600! :)

Dell outlet?

definitely have a look at this, I just got a studio 15 from the outlet and it was like new (I presume it was a cancelled order.)

specs were:

p8600 @ 2.4Ghz 800Mhz 3MB
4GB ddr2 800Mhz RAM
320GB HDD (5400rpm)
512MB ATI mobility radeon HD4570
WXGA WLED Truelife (glossy) display
slot loading dvd/rw
spring green microsatin (a kind of rubbery texture) lid
and as a bonus it came with the backlit keyboard option which wasn't even mentioned on the outlet site.

Got it for £450 including delivery which is about £300 off that specs new price \o/

When I looked there were a few studio xps 16's at your budget; not sure on specs though.
