Hi guys,

I'm after a cheap pre-built desktop pc for uni work - word/powerpoint with lots of pdf/webpages open. I will also be using it to watch movies and play the odd game of quake / doom using darkplaces. I suppose I would like to give some FPS a try too, specifically Aliens Isolation, but If I'm being honest I don't really have much time to play games what with two kids!

I've been looking at the casual gaming rigs for around £450 and also the liberator x6.

It has been a long time since I played any games so I'm out of the loop so I'm really in need of some advice here.

Thanks

Rob

I've got monitor/kb/mouse.

Excuse my greenishness:

So is that a prebuilt one? Do I add items individually to shopping basket?

I don;t want to assume, but will I be able to enjoy the new alien game and doom/quake lol with that build?

Thanks

Rob

in a word, better.

the i3 and 6300 are similar.
but the gpu of my spec totally blows the 750(ti) out of the water.
see: http://www.anandtech.com/bench/product/1043?vs=1130
(i know it says 270x, but the 270 is the same silicon...ie a downclocked 270x)
also i've put a sshd in my spec which makes the system snappier and generally more pleasant to use than just a bog standard hdd

the plus side of those prebuilts listed are that it looks better ;p

I like the prebuilts, was considering getting one a while back but decided on making my own.

Tam, quickly I had a browse through some 'b' grades and found some bargins recon we could incorporate;

had a bash at a build properly as i am at home, now the processor is more of a budget but you do get a good GPU.

This leaves a little money for a cd drive and will cost slightly more to get it made. Just another point of view. The 'B' grade items according to sight have some cosmetic dmg/lost original packaging, etc. however they are discounted accordinly, there is meant to be a 770GTX on its way,but i personally would snap up the 280.

THe pentium performs well considering the cost, i don't think anything you require will need more than 2 cores.
