My friend is planning to build a pc that for his budget is the best possible platform for gaming and media capabilities.

Any help with builds you guys can provide would be great, everything is needed minus OS, monitor, mouse and keyboard; so effectively just a full tower build please! =D

There aren't any preferences on manufacturers either, amd, intel, ati or nvid it's all possibilities.

thanks in advance for any help guys.

Aye nice spec there mate, Ritsugamesh I don't envy you, anything less than £900 and it's ridiculously difficult to persuade yourself to choose between specs. It all depends on what component(s) you're willing to compromise on.

While I'm not an AMD fan - processor wise - that athlon quad core is pretty nice for the price.

Lets see what some other folk may suggest.

This is what I've set up for my £400 build, so with your budget you could stick a better gfx card and psu in the mix if you wanted an intel build that has a bit of OCing potential (though I'd ask about the board, as I'm unsure of that one myself)

i'm not an AMD fan my self but i've owned a few and there not that bad. If i were on a budget i'd deffinately go for it. there are a few disadvantages such as heat/ power consumption and overclocking capabilities.
Intel offer better options and varities but it comes at a much higher cost.

OP can easily hit 3ghz with that package, a nice 5750 and 4gb ram will see him through most games at max settings for a long while and wiz through media applications imo.
