Hiya,

After the success of my last post after you guys specced me an awesome PC, my friend is now interested in upgrading. He currently has as 695 Phenom and the graphics card is a 6850.

All he has said is he wants Intel and a SSD...

He doesn't need KB&M, Monitor or Windows. He has a £500 budget so lets see what you can do!

Thanks

Something like this:

YOUR BASKET
1 x Intel Core i3-4360 3.70GHz (Haswell) Socket LGA1150 Processor - Retail £113.99
1 x Sapphire Radeon R7 265 Dual-X 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card £89.99
1 x Crucial MX100 256GB SATA 2.5” 7mm SSD + 9.5mm Adapter (CT256MX100SSD1) £79.99
1 x Gigabyte Z97P-D3 Intel Z97 (Socket 1150) DDR3 ATX Motherboard £68.99
1 x Kingston HyperX 8GB (2x4GB) PC3-19200C11 2400MHz Dual Channel Kit - Black/Red (HX24C11BRK2/8-OC) £65.99
1 x SuperFlower Golden Green HX 550W "80 Plus Gold" Power Supply - Black £49.99
1 x BitFenix Neos ATX Tower Black/Black £29.99
Total : £513.02 (includes shipping : £11.75).

I would have gone with AMD so he could have mabey reused his current CPU and overclock it and then i would get a better graphics card but the card is still very good for the price and plays games at good settings

Hi, he has given me some more of things he has!

Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 500GB SATA-II 16MB Cache - OEM my current hard drive
8 Ball: Corsair XMS3 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit - current ram

The HDD can be reused, the power supply is 650w I think so again, should be OK?

£129.98 inc
Toshiba SSD Q Series 512GB Solid State Hard Drive - (HDTS251EZSTA)
(brilliant price from OcUk)

£161.99 inc
Intel Core i5-4690K 3.50GHz (Devil's Canyon) Socket LGA1150 Processor - OEM
(cheaper because it is not that much better than prior intel equivalents, but it is still a bit better and now cheaper than those ...)

Any decent Z97 motherboard
** Do not mention competitors names or prices, thank you **

For the rest maybe just choose some decent memory, decent cpu cooler and a 2TB HD or recycle current HD. For this budget I wouldn't be purchasing another graphics card - best to stick with the 6850 and get the base system right.

ASRock Z97 Pro3 is £59+vat on ******* (sorry guys - this guy has a tight budget, maybe you can price match?!)

- That Q Series SSD has poor performance in comparison to others, and 512gb isn't needed on such a tight budget like this
- That ASROCK board isn't particularly good either, and I'd remove that competitor name as well :)
- A cooler, new GPU and SSD can all be fit into this budget, similar to what I specced perhaps
