Hi guys,

My wife as agreed to allow me to spend around £550 on upgrades to my PC.

I have this at moment....
CPU......Intel i5 760 skt 1156 lynnfield
MB.......Asus P7P55D-E
MEM.....2 x DDR3 2GB Corsair (bandwidth i think is 667mhz)
GFX......Nvidia Geforce Gigabyte GTX 970 (4GB memory)
SSD......Corsair 120GB (with Win 10 on)
Drive.....1GB hard drive Samsung

The GFX was the last thing i brought at a fair for £120.00....bargain at the time i thought.

What would be the best thing to upgrade guys with this budget?

Looks okay, I'd maybe get 16GB of RAM although you may be doing that anyway. That said you'd only be up to 540 notes, whereas you've given a budget of up to 600 quid. In which case, I'd go for an even better board for another 50-60 quid.

That bundle looks good value. I know nothing about the GB K7 board, but looks like you're getting RAM, board and SSD for around £210?

If you're looking at these components, have you considered the 2600X instead? It's £5 cheaper than the 1700, and around 5-10% faster in the majority of games. In rendering and similar tasks, the extra cores on the 1700 are more important, though, so it depends what you'll used it for. If you did go for the 2600X (or the plain 2600 to save a bit more money), you'd want to ask OcUK to flash the BIOS of the board before shipping it (they did this for me and it only added another day to delivery time).

I would ‘cheap out’ on the cpu mobo and RAM. I used ally buy brand new, but this year I lost my PC to a burst water pipe, amazingly the only thing that survived was my GPU...

So I built a new one but was I was short of money because of Christmas.
Anyway I bought-
I7-4770 £120 (2nd hand)
Cheap H81 mobo £40,
Generic no brand RAM 4GB 1600hz x2 £15 each (2nd hand)

Then pocket the rest and hang on for the GPU’s that could/should be due soon.
