5080 + 4k 240hz OLED?

Have a look at RTINGS reviews on monitors and around issues with OLED VRR (variable refresh rate) flicker, text clarity screen burn.
That soon put me off a bit and then spent almost £500 on travel and accomodation for a friends stag do instead :D
Sticking with my 100Hz IPS 34" Gsync screen until OLED have something like a 165Hz+ Gsync ultimate that doesnt have issues.

I did consider an Alienware AW3423DW. OLED, 34" Gysnc ultimate, 175Hz.

However its now 2+ years old, so feel something will come along soon and be much improved. That being said, im sure if I saw the aw3423dw in person and played a couple of games id buy it there and then!

Stop it, you're making me want to use my aw34dw instead of the aw32 now!!! :D

I read up that the aw32 has better text clarity, but VRR flicker issues - https://www.rtings.com/monitor/reviews/dell/alienware-aw3225qf
(probably due to no native Gsync module)

Going to my Acer Predator X32 (v1) I found the display great for the ultrawide 3440 x 1440, but the main plus for me was Gsync. The lack of tearing and flicker in contrast to all my previous monitors right back to my last Dell 21" Trinitron CRT were put to shame.
If I get another screen and it has flicker / janky tearing issues at all then I'll kick myself for not buying a Gsync native monitor. I highly doubt that 'Freesync premium' is a patch on native Gsync. (at least when using Nvida cards, which I have for the past few years)

Im also considering another IPS or maybe even VA panel with Gsync that has higher refresh rate (165+) to tide me over for a few years.

Yeah the aw32 is definetly superior for clarity in text etc. Gaming wise for 4k vs 1440, it depends a lot on the game, some there is a massive difference but then others, there is very little difference, a lot of the difference is usually down to how much a game relies on TAA methods so something like rdr 2, the difference is huge but then something like sony games e.g. god of war, spiderman, the difference in clarity is less. I must do a test some time to see how the new dlss transformer model works on 1440p as that has provided a huge boost to clarity especially in motion so suspect the gap might not be as big now since TAA methods (this includes upscaling) always work better with higher res.

My only issue with the aw32 is the vrr flicker and not handling big fps fluctuations or/and fps drops below 60 anywhere near as good as gsync ultimate, aw34dw is a far more smoother and playable experience in comparison to the aw32 but IF you're able to maintain a constant 70/80 fps and there isn't a huge fluctuation, the aw32 does just fine and you would be hard pressed to notice the difference when it comes to the vrr side.

I wouldn't touch any LCD display now, oled is the next level up regardless of sync tech.

Best thing is to wait for oled gsync ultimate (which will be using mediatech scaler)

Thanks, you have confimed my thoughts :)

Do you own (or have you owned) both the aw32 and aw34dw?

I have both, I was going to sell the aw34dw but didn't seem worthwhile letting it go when most oleds are going for £800+ brand new and I still have at the back of my mind that I might make the switch back to it some day if VRR flicker really does start to become a big problem in most of my gaming, so far the only game which was completely ruined by it was silent hill 2, thankfuly turning off gsync was ok since when you're at 240hz, the screen tearing is very hard to notice and it was about as smooth as you can get for a sub par ue 5 game anyway....

Nice, so you're using the aw32 at the moment I take it with the aw34dw as backup?

Yeah pretty much that, aw32 is for my gaming/personal pc and aw34dw is used for work (has at least helped with getting less eye fatigue/strain so not complete overkill :p), I did have the aw34dw connected to my main pc at the same time as my work mac too but it was a faff switching back and forth and didn't use enough on the main pc with the aw32 being the go to display.
